Introduction
Pratt Community College’s art major offers a foundation program for students who want to transfer to a four-year school in art education, studio art, or design. Small class size allows students to get personal attention from instructors with industry experience. While at PCC, students build a portfolio and have the opportunity to exhibit their work in the Delmar Riney Art Gallery on campus. The art gallery, which is open to students, community members, and others, hosts several exhibits throughout the year. Besides, visiting artists present lectures, gallery talks, demonstrations, or workshops in conjunction with their exhibits.
The Studio Art program classes help students gain experience and knowledge in a variety of foundation art classes. Our small class size and individualized attention greatly enhance students’ educational experience. Many supplies and materials for the studio art classes are provided.
Our design program creates opportunities for students entering a variety of design fields. Courses provide the foundation students need for these rapidly growing, in-demand fields. The program covers many different graphic design areas, including web, print, and package creation, as well as animation and even game design. Students gain hands-on experience and create a portfolio to transfer to a university or to join the workforce. Our facility offers excellent studio workspaces and an Adobe Creative Suite computer lab.
Foundation classes in art and education prepare students to transfer to a university art teaching program.
