When and where are classes offered?
Students can choose from day, evening, weekends, short-term, and summer classes. Courses are offered at our convenient campuses in Pleasant Hill and San Ramon. Flexible online classes are also offered that students can access from almost anywhere and at anytime.
How long will it take to earn a certificate of achievement or accounting degree?
It generally takes students two terms to earn a certificate of achievement depending on how courses are sequenced and how often courses are offered. It takes about two years of full-time study to meet the requirements for a degree in accounting.

What is the accounting program?
The accounting program prepares students for entry-level employment in almost any industry. As an accounting student, you can build a career as an accountant, use your education as a stepping-stone for starting a business, enter public service, or pursue middle and upper-management positions. In addition to accounting courses, the program includes courses in:

The certificate of achievement and degree program helps students develop critical thinking, problem solving and business judgment skills. The integrated program adopts a real-world perspective by using research, oral and written communication, current events, team projects, and computer applications.

What are the requirements to earn an accounting degree or certificate of achievement in accounting?
To earn the accounting degree or certificate in accounting you must:
- complete each course used to meet a certificate requirement with a “C” grade or higher,
- complete at least 25 percent of all coursework for the certificate at Diablo Valley College.
Many of DVC’s accounting courses are transferable to four-year universities. Courses may also be used for qualification to take the CPA examination.
