Are you wishing to extend your teaching career into the field of Guidance and Counselling as a guidance officer, guidance counsellor or school counsellor? The Graduate Certificate of Education (Counselling in Educational Contexts) will help prepare you to make this transition.
Develop basic counselling skills and an understanding of the key issues faced by students and how today’s professionals in education are tackling them. This specialization will introduce you to the key theories and practices of counselling in education contexts. You will have the opportunity to undertake a course in Mental Health Promotion and Intervention or responses to child abuse and neglect.
Further study
After completing the Graduate Certificate of Education (Counselling in Educational Contexts) with a minimum GPA of 4.0, you will have the option to take the credit from your studies and go on to complete the Master of Education.
If you do not achieve a GPA of 4.0, you may have the option to continue your studies with a Graduate Diploma of Education before moving on to a Master of Education (provided other programme entry requirements are met).
Note: This programme does not qualify you for teacher registration in Queensland. To qualify for teacher registration in Queensland, please refer to the Master of Learning and Teaching.
