The undergraduate certificate is designed to encourage students to acquire a more thorough background in contemporary interdisciplinary scholarship in feminist and gender studies, and to incorporate feminist perspectives and issues into their major fields of specialization.

Biotechnology is a commercial, medical or research endeavour that uses living cells or their components to create useful products. Biotechnology applications are widely employed in pharmaceuticals, fermentation technologies agriculture, the diagnosis and prevention of disease, vaccine development and production, forensics, and bioremediation.

The Cosmetology department offers two Certificates and an Associate in Applied Science degree program. There are two educational pathways in the Cosmetology program: Cosmetology and Cosmetology Instructor Training. The curriculum is designed to prepare the student for the State Board of Cosmetology Examination.

Established in 1970 to teach “Our History, Our Way,” the Department of Ethnic Studies is the only unit at UH Mānoa that concentrates on race and ethnic relations in Hawai‘i, the United States, and the Pacific.
