Our Academic Study Abroad Program (ASAP) is specifically designed for eligible international university-level students to enhance their educational experience by studying in ASAP for 1, 2 or 3 quarters. While in ASAP, students have the opportunity to enroll full-time alongside matriculated UC Irvine students in credit-bearing UC Irvine courses and UC Irvine Continuing Education courses. ASAP does not offer any course accommodations or application assistance related to students' admission to their future degree programs.

The English Language Learning (ELL) program is an intensive, five-semester, five-level, full-time program for students who speak English as a second language. This program can help build English Language skills for success in college, university, and a career. English Language Learning is available at both Progress Campus and the Eglinton Learning Site.

You will improve your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills as well as develop a range of the skills that you will need in higher education and in the world of work. Your teacher will monitor your progress closely and provide you with the personalised support that you need to support your development of academic skills, preparing you for further study.

In this course, you will be introduced to the American judicial and legislative systems. You will become familiar with legal terminology, learn how to analyze cases, and also understand how legal documents are composed. Topics include the history and origin of US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, an examination of key cases that have shaped US history and video observations of court proceedings.

LCI’s General English course is ideal for students who want to improve their overall English language proficiency and gain confidence in communicating effectively in real-life situations. Through a dynamic and interactive teaching approach, you will partake in a range of everyday speaking, listening, writing, and reading activities. Once you reach an upper intermediate level of English, you can specialize and switch your General English classes to Listening and pronunciation classes.

The School for the Advancement of English Language and Learning (SAELL) is offered to international students to holistically build English proficiency to help them achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals.

The Intensive English Programme is designed to empower students to use English socially, for study and for work. A skills-based syllabus is employed where listening, speaking, reading and writing are equally weighed. There are twenty-one hours of classes spread over 10 (ten) weeks to ensure that learners benefit from the total hours allocated per term.

Course: English as a Foreign Language (EFL) This course is the perfect option for anyone looking to learn English as a second language whilst also experiencing British culture. Whether you want to develop a basic knowledge of the English language, get familiar with everyday expressions, or want to understand complex English text and abstract topics, this course has a lot to offer to help you develop your English. These classes are mainly intended for students who normally live outside of the UK and speak a language other than English at home.

After studying General English, you will be able to choose from a range of electives to take for two afternoons a week, to allow you to focus on the English skills that you most want to improve. These courses are for students who want to improve their English more quickly.
