The Writing Studies minor is a home for students who believe that writing can be an integral part of their personal, professional, and academic success. Writing Studies is a research-based, interdisciplinary field that includes the study of digital media, professional and technical writing, academic, civic, and cultural rhetorics, and the theory and practice of writing pedagogy. 

The Translation Research and Instruction Program (TRIP) offers a Minor in Translation Studies. The Minor complements degree programs in foreign language study and is an option for undergraduates who have an advanced knowledge of one or more foreign languages and an interest in translation, either as a profession or as an area of academic research.

The first-year Engineering Design Division program integrates engineering fundamentals and engineering communications in a year-long program that includes three hands-on engineering projects in the Engineering Design and Engineering Communications courses.

The Sociocultural Anthropology minor introduces students to a range of theories, problematics, and questions in the study of social and cultural differences around the world. Such training is relevant to students in a wide variety of fields, including area studies (Asian and Asian-American studies, Africana studies, Latin American and Caribbean studies, Judaic studies), economics, geography, history, art history, political science, psychology, sociology and women's studies.

The Center for Middle East and North Africa Studies (CMENAS) at Binghamton University coordinates the study of the Middle East, North and Sudanic Africa, and European countries that have extensive Islamic contact. The Center develops and integrates research and graduate and undergraduate instruction about the MENA area.

The Linguistic Anthropology minor introduces students to a broad range of theories and questions in the study of language and culture and how they influence each other. Such training is relevant to students in a variety of fields including area studies (Asian and Asian-American studies, Africana studies, Latin American and Caribbean Area studies, Judaic studies), linguistics, economics, geography, history, art history, political science, psychology, sociology, women's studies and romance languages.

The Individualized Major Program (IMP) provides students at Harpur College the opportunity to pursue their academic interests through innovative, interdisciplinary programs of their design. Participants in the program work closely with faculty sponsors and the IMP Committee to frame interesting questions, develop unique courses of study, and undertake creative and original scholarly work.

The Department of Human Development also offers an interdisciplinary minor in immigration studies that explores the complex and multiple ways in which citizenship is defined and experienced at global, societal, institutional, community, and individual levels.

The minor in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine supplements the studies of students majoring in other fields with a coherent, thematic program in History. The minor introduces students to the history of science, technology, and medicine in a variety of time periods, geographic regions, and religious and cultural systems.

The Global Studies Minor (GSM) is an innovative, individualized, and interdisciplinary program which builds a formally recognized intercultural, globally-engaging experience into a student’s degree. Through the GSM, students examine pressing issues confronting today's world and relate them to the full range of their overall studies, personal interests, and future goals.

The GIS and Remote Sensing Core Facility was created in 2001 in response to a  rapidly growing need for GeoSpatial Technology training and support in a variety of disciplines. The Binghamton University GIS and Remote Sensing Core Facility supports the research mission of the university.

The Geochemistry Minor is for science students (e.g. chemistry majors) with an interest in the chemical aspects of Earth science.

The undergraduate minor in Evolutionary Studies (EvoS) introduces students to evolutionary thinking across a wide range of academic disciplines and is explicitly meant to be interdisciplinary. Binghamton's Evolutionary Studies Program teaches evolution in an integrated fashion, beginning with core principles and extending from the biological sciences to all aspects of humanity.

The Biological Anthropology minor provides students with a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts of human biology, evolution, and the relationships between humans as biological and cultural animals. The program is relevant to students with interests in biology, geology, environmental studies, psychology, nursing, dentistry, medicine, and general bio-behavioral science.
