Introduction
Construction Project Management is a one-year college graduate program. Students will learn the knowledge and skills required to advance in the construction industry to a management position. Courses focus on theories and practices of modern construction management in residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional construction projects.
Your Learning Experience
Fanshawe’s Construction Project Management program will provide the skills needed to navigate the modern and dynamic construction industry.
The two-term Construction Project Management program will focus on the knowledge and skills required to advance in the construction industry to a management position, acknowledging the new demands of this role that include the theory and practice of managing a residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional (I.C.I.) construction project from start to finish, while working inter-professionally and coordinating the work with a variety of other trades/professions. This program is also designed to meet the need for people with out-of-Canada qualifications such as architects and engineers to use their skills and qualify for these well-paid, rewarding jobs.
Accreditation
This program has been accredited by the Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Accreditation Board. Upon graduation, students will have earned twenty-five credits toward their formal education requirement.

Program Outcome
The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:
- Assess requirements for construction industry business planning and management.
- Formulate strategies for human resource planning and management.
- Integrate and apply knowledge of construction legislation, standards, procedures, and contract law into ongoing planning and decision-making process.
- Justify safe work practices including risk analysis and risk management theory, assisting in the formulation of options on the basis of specific project/operational requirements.
- Utilize collaborative leadership skills to communicate and influence project stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Manage and execute a variety of construction projects using project management principles, practices, and tools.
- Build and lead interdisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle using negotiation and problem-solving skills.
