Introduction
Accounting is a career that is resilient to the changing business climate. Accounting is an important function in all organizations, and all organizations have some accounting function. This job choice is for people who like to solve problems by using a standard process. Small businesses, large businesses, manufacturers, service organizations, non-profits, social organizations, and government agencies employ people in the accounting department.
The program at Gogebic Community College (GCC) is a great way to begin your accounting education. We have a fully transferable program to Northern Michigan University, or you could earn an associate's degree and begin employment upon graduation. Bookkeepers, Accountants, and Auditing Clerks compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. They perform any routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. They may also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings about business transactions recorded by other workers.
