Introduction
This course covers all the skills involved in making a garment from a commercial pattern including putting in a zip, waistbands and pockets. Students will be required to buy a pattern and fabric for either a skirt or pair of trousers of their choice and will be guided through how to adjust their chosen garment to fit themselves. Advice on the style of patterns and fabric will be given in the first session by a well-qualified and experienced tutor.
You will be given guidance on purchasing a simple pattern, fabric and basic equipment during the first class. This can cost anything between £30 and £80.The course takes place in our fashion studios with access to industrial and domestic sewing machines, with advantages that both machines offer. It is useful but not essential to have access to a sewing machine at home.
