HNC Animal Management

The Higher National Certificate in Animal Management provides a good foundation for those students who have a real passion for working with animals and aims to prepare participants for employment at supervisory level jobs within the industry. The course is also well suited for those who currently work in the industry and would like to develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding to progress within the sector. As a student on this course, you will be involved in animals' welfare on the college animal care unit to include those animals in our Blue Cross Rehoming Centre, Day Boarding Dog Kennels and livestock production area.

This course combines lectures, group work, practical sessions and independent research. You will be applying your theoretical knowledge to practice both in group work and the work setting throughout the time. You will be expected to undertake an industrial experience placement one day per week as part of your studies. This will not only give you valuable experience but can often lead directly to employment opportunities. The course's remainder will be taught over three days per week in college and will consist of lectures, tutorials, practicals, and laboratory work. The academic staff on the programme have vocational experience and specialisms within Animal Management, making them ideally placed to help you apply theory to practice.
