Introduction
The Accounting Program is designed to provide the student with the necessary analytical, conceptual, and technical knowledge and accounting proficiency. It will prepare the student to build a solid foundation of career-specific accounting skills, including basic accounting, cost accounting, taxation, financial statement analysis, and payroll accounting, to prepare for a wide array of professional opportunities.
Students who complete the Associate of Applied Science in Accounting will:
- Possess the necessary skills to perform basic functions of entry-level bookkeeping/accounting positions.
- Apply related accounting knowledge such as taxation, payroll, and auditing to perform accounting/bookkeeping functions/work.
- Use technology (i.e., computers, accounting software, information databases) to perform and enhance financial and management reports.
- Use clear and concise communication to convey relevant financial and non-financial information so that decision-makers can formulate informed decisions.
