Introduction
This program examines the theory and practice of government and the powerful personalities that affect governmental decisions. This interplay of individual citizens, public leaders, elections, and world events make political inquiry relevant today. The program provides a broad base for analyzing how the government resolves social conflict within the United States and around the world.
Upon completing the Associate in Arts in Political Science for Transfer Degree, students will be eligible to transfer to a CSU undergraduate Political Science program. The Associate in Arts in Political Science for Transfer Degree will facilitate successful transfer to the CSU system, allowing students to complete baccalaureate degrees in a more timely fashion.
To earn the Associate in Arts in Political Science for Transfer degree, students must:
Complete 60-semester units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including both of the following: The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education – Breadth Requirements; A minimum of 18-semester units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.
Obtain a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
Students who complete the Associate in Arts in Political Science for Transfer degree will be able to: Develop theory and content knowledge of political science; Comprehend, analyze, and evaluate academic literature in political science; Create original work and/or research in political science.
