Centennial College's Police Foundations program is geared towards those who have an interest in police, security, and investigation-related occupations in both the public and private sectors.

Police officers make our communities a better place. They do this by preventing crime, enforcing laws and improving the quality of life for all. Loyalist's Diploma in Police Foundations program prepares you to be a great candidate for police services. To help you get started and make connections, Loyalist Police Foundations provides eligible students with experience, observing police officers in action, at their side.

The Police Science degree and certificate program provides practical and technical instruction to meet the requirements of law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. The program is designed for men and women who are interested in careers as law enforcement officers with the responsibility of ensuring the security of human rights and maintaining social order according to the democratic system. Some responsibilities of law enforcement officers include enforcing laws and detecting and arresting violators of the law, crime prevention, and protecting life and property.

The Police Foundations Ontario College Diploma program provides you with foundational knowledge of the field of law enforcement. While there is a strong theoretical aspect to this program, there are many opportunities for hands-on learning through in-class scenario situations and our fitness program. Outside the classroom, students are required to complete 35 hours of volunteering by the end of their first two semesters at an approved community-based agency.

Get a head start for employment in a police service with a solid foundation of police procedures. Cambrian’s in-class assignments, scenario training, fitness components, and community work complement topics covered by the Ontario Police College. Hands-on training includes three replica jail cells in our scenario room and extensive involvement in community initiatives. You’ll get opportunities to network alongside working professional officers from local police agencies and volunteer within the community. Upon graduation, you can pursue your career goals or earn a second diploma in public safety in one additional year.

Students will gain knowledge in the Criminal Justice field and be exposed to the workings of the criminal justice systems, introduced to law enforcement, its history and development in the U.S., the procedures and techniques relating to criminal evidence.

This two-year Associate of Science Degree in Criminology is designed for the student interested in transferring to a senior institution and completing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology. The program combines a broad background of core Criminology courses with a sound liberal arts education.

The Associate of Science degree in Forensic Science provides the foundation for students who plan to pursue a bachelor's or a master's degree in forensic science. The program combines a science curriculum with hands-on experience in collecting, processing, and analyzing physical evidence in criminal cases.

This diploma program prepares students to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) exam and start careers in state, municipal, and county law enforcement agencies, as well as State and Federal government agencies!

Natural attrition and a growing urban population have resulted in an increasing demand for new police and security personnel. The OPP, RCMP and municipal agencies are currently actively pursuing new recruits. Graduates of the Police Foundations 51-Week program are trained to pursue a career in the various policing agencies across Canada. Alternative career paths include Canadian customs and immigration, custody and correctional services, and federal and provincial government enforcement bodies. Court bailiffs, campus police, wardens, personal and property security officers, 9-1-1 operators, and loss prevention control personnel are also in high demand across the country. Throughout the program, students become involved with their local community through assisting police services or event security detail. Students are required to wear the prescribed uniform and name tag during classes and practicum placement.

The Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND in Policing will provide students with the generic knowledge, understanding, and skills to enter employment within Policing, the wider public service sector, or entry to Higher Education through a top-up degree.

The Institute of Technology offers both initial and renewal Concealed Carry Weapons training. The course objective is to provide all the necessary laws and rights/responsibilities of carrying a concealed weapon. You will be required to demonstrate proficiency in shooting all of the firearms you want to have included on your Concealed Carry Weapons Permit, up to a maximum of four firearms.

You will be prepared for careers in many of the uniformed public services and develop a wide range of practical skills on this course, which may feature a residential week with the public services, learning about recruitment and entry requirements.

The purpose of this qualification is to provide a structured programme for students who will be interested in bringing a positive change in the society; this course equips them with knowledge and skills to become traffic officers.
