Vanier Cegep College

Introduction

Vanier is an English college renowned for excellence in education with a variety of academic and professional programs. This is a truly Canadian student-centered experience based in two campus locations close to downtown Montreal, and both on a metro line. We have strong student services, including tutoring and academic support services, sports facilities with gym and pool, a recently refurbished library, social activities, and a school nurse and counseling services. Our Language School offers courses in English for Academic Purposes, French, Spanish and more.

We are often referred to as the most diverse college campus in Quebec because of our highly diverse student population of over 8000 students. Vanier College is committed to education for international students and to creating an open climate that fosters learning across borders and cultures.

Vanier has two campuses; our main one in the borough of St-Laurent, and the new centrally-located Beaumont location near Acadie metro station, approximately twenty minutes distance apart. Your classes will take place on both campuses. You will find that classrooms and computer labs are well-equipped, support is available in both locations, and that this will contribute to your diverse experience of Montreal.

Choosing the right school for you, especially when you are traveling abroad, is so important. Vanier is a supportive learning environment where diversity is our strength. We welcome you!

Admissions

Application deadline for Summer 2022: 15 December 2021

Interested applicants must apply with all requested admission documents and the admission fee on the SRAM (service régional d’admission du montréal métropolitain) website by the application deadline. The agent of your choice who is representing Vanier College will be able to assist you with this application and with sending the necessary documents.

You will be required to pay $80 to SRAM for application charges.

A comparative evaluation of your previous studies will be conducted by SRAM. This means that the studies you have previously done will be compared to the equivalent studies in Canada. You are required to ask for this evaluation to be done on the SRAM website.

Vanier Admissions will inform you of the status of your application within a short time.

All accepted candidates will be given a Conditional Acceptance, conditional on obtaining your CAQ, Study Permit, and mandatory health insurance. You will see whether you have been accepted on the SRAM website soon after you have applied. You will be sent an email indicating that you have been accepted, but an original acceptance letter will follow by mail. When you have received your letter, you will be required to pay the $150 Confirmation Acceptance Fee through the Vanier Omnivox online system to secure your place at the college. Then you must apply for your immigration documents as soon as possible, using your original acceptance letter.

Note that all late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Please also note that a transfer to other programs at Vanier is not possible.

Visa Requirements

Documents Required to Study in Canada

As soon as you are accepted into one of our Attestation Programs, you will need to apply for your essential immigration documents to be able to study in Quebec and Canada. If you do not obtain these documents, your acceptance will be refused.

These are the documents that you will require:

  1. CAQ (certificat d’acceptation du Québec) issued by Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion Québec;
  2. Study Permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (Government of Canada);
  3. Coop/Intern Permit issued by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada at the same time as your Study Permit (you will need to request this because there is an Internship as part of your Attestation Program).

Warning: These documents can take up to three months to obtain. Please apply as soon as you receive your conditional admission confirmation from Vanier!

Note: It is highly recommended that applicants ensure that their present passports do not expire within the next years while they intend to be studying at Vanier College. Study Permits and CAQs will only be given for the time that the present passport is valid, and therefore these documents would need to be renewed from Canada if the passport expiry date is earlier than the end of the program of study.

Vanier College is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), number O19359201897.
